For these great earrings, I form simple copper hoops and solder recycled sterling posts to them. The ends and the join are filed smooth for comfort, then the copper is hammered a bit for texture. An here comes the fun part: vintage brass leaves with stunning detail are soldered to the hoops in such a way that makes them reversible, and the leaves can therefore be seen from any angle. Heavily oxidized and sanded to add an air of rustic antiquity, and to make those amazing detailed leaves pop!
These have a bit of weight to them, but they will not pull down on the earlobe very much at all. Think of it as a nice, comfy weight–you’ll know they’re there and that you look fabulous! Can be made larger or smaller, and with different metals for the hoops. Just contact me for a quote, or if you’re patient, you can keep an eye out for the sterling & all brass versions!
Measures approx. 2.5″ in diameter.
Strong recycled sterling butterfly backs included.
*PLEASE NOTE that I only use solder that does NOT contain lead or cadmium in my soldered pieces, and a natural non-toxic pickle to clean the metal after using the torch. All of my raw metals (wire, sheet, etc.) are recycled/reclaimed metal. When oxidizing, I also use liver of sulfur. No harsh chemicals.*
